Game Play: Shuffle and deal all cards to two players. Take turns placing a card face up in the center of the table and reading your word. If the cards match (as shown above) the first player to slap the cards wins the pile and adds them to their deck. If the cards do not match the game continues as each player alternates turning over a card until a match is found.
Game Assembly: Print three or four copies of each page onto colored cardstock paper. Laminate if desired, then cut out into individual cards.
Expansion Ideas: To keep younger children engaged start with a smaller variety of words and more copies of the same words. Older children can handle the entire set and are a little more patient when waiting for a match. Follow up with the Sight word worksheets below for additional practice.
