Game Play: Choose a word strip and read the word. Listen to the ending sound and find the correct pencil for your word. Hint: The words on each pencil will rhyme so you can easily check to see if you’re correct. You can also look to see if your word ends with the same letters.
Game Assembly: Mount pencils to the inside pages of your file folder. Cut out the word strips for playing pieces. Glue title page to outside so that you form a pocket. Glue Tab Label to folder.
Expansion Ideas: Once chidren are comfortable placing the words into their word families encourage them to place them by hue (light yellow down to orange) or to arrange them alphabetically.
