Game Play: Choose a word crayon and read the word. Listen to the ending sound and find the correct crayon box for your word. Hint: The words on each crayon will rhyme so you can easily check to see if you’re correct. You can also look to see if your word ends with the same letters.
Game Assembly: Mount crayon box to the inside pages of your file folder. Cut out the word strips for playing pieces. Glue title page to outside so that you form a pocket. Glue Tab Label to folder. If you laminate your game you can cut slits across the top of the crayon boxes for children to insert the crayons.
Expansion Ideas: As children master this game, you can start adding in additional activities. Encourage children to use their word in a sentence, write their word on a sheet of paper or even order the word families alphabetically.
