Game Play:  Collect some items from around the house or classroom.  Use your magnet to determine if the item is magnetic or not then place it on the correct board.

Game Assembly:  Print and mount the learning boards to the inside of a file folder or page protector. Provide children with a variety of magnetic and non-magnetic items.  HINT: You might keep a small rubbermaid container with all your magnets inseide.  This is a great place to collect lost toys and random things you find on your classroom floor….then you can simply pull out the entire center quickly and put it away just as quickly.

Expansion Ideas: Encourage children to form a guess and introduce them to the word “Hypothesis.”  Ask them to make their hypothesis and explaing WHY they chose it.  Children who show interest can be encouraged to test larger items around the house just be careful sometimes these magnets can be strong!
