Game Play: Choose a raindrop and say what the picture is outloud. Listen closely for the beginning sounds and place the raindrop into the correct umbrella.
Game Assembly: Cut out umbrellas. Cut a small slit in the umbrella across the top of the red section. (see photo) This will create a pocket. Carefully glue to your file folder remembering that you’ll be storing raindrops inside the pocket. (only glue the bottom edge of the red. Cut out raindrops for playing pieces. Add a few hand drawn raindrops for decoration.
Expansion Ideas: Blends can be hard for young children not only to recognize when they hear them but to repeat them back. My own children had speech issues through age 7, and we were constantly working on blends and sounds. Practice, Practice, Practice and time was how we pushed through, but I also found that Super Star Speech was a wonderful resource.
