Game Play: Choose an egg. Read the word outloud. Listen to see if you hear a short e (like in egg) or a long e (like eat) and place your egg into the correct basket.
Game Assembly: This game requires a single file folder. Mount the baskets to each side of the folder so that you create a pocket. Cut out the eggs for playing pieces. Laminate for durability. Mount title and label to file folder.
Expansion Ideas: For children who are ready you can begin talking to them about Nouns, Verbs, Adverbs, and Adjectives.
Skill Building Links: What’s Up, What’s Down?
Supplementary Resources: The War Between the Vowels & The Consonants (cute!)
