Game Play: This game is for children who are learning to round to the nearest 10. Children draw two number tiles and place them on the gameboard. Using the juggling clown as a reference, children then decide to round up or round down. Children write the original number on a paper, then the newly rounded number beside it.
Game Assembly: Print on cardstock and laminate for durability. Provide children with number tiles, pencil and a sheet of paper. If you laminate your game board you can write directly on it and reuse it again and again.
Expansion Ideas: Encourage children to look for numbers that make 10, or can be easily combined. For example when adding nine, show children they can easily add 10, then mentally take one away. The goal of these mental operations is to speed up the addition process.
