Game Play: This game is designed for up to five players, however you can add additional players by printing more gameboards and gumballs. Each player chooses a gumball machine as their board. Gumballs go into a small jar (that can’t bee seen through) in the center. Children take turns drawing a gumball, reading the word and looking for a match on their board. If there isn’t a match the gumball goes back into the center jar and it’s the next players turn. The first one to fill up their board (including the candy ball at the bottom) wins the game.
Game Assembly: Print gumball machines onto colored cardstock paper and cut out. Use a 1.5″ circle punch to cut out gumball words. Mount title page and label to the file folder.
Expansion Ideas: To keep younger children engaged you might allow them to draw three gumballs at a time (this will keep the game moving more quickly.) Further, you can remove the gumballs for any out of play gumball machines which would cut down on the amount of incorrect matches. However, this is a great way to sneak in a little extra practice.
